Car Accidents

Car Accidents

After a car accident, you may be scared and injured with no clue about the next steps to take. This is especially true if you sustained severe injuries that affect your ability to work and do the activities you love. You may require extensive treatment — but worry about how you will be able to pay for your hospital visits and rehabilitation.

Like many personal injury accidents, car accidents tend to be caused by someone’s irresponsible behavior. This behavior can involve:

  • Alcohol or illegal substance abuse
  • Prescription drugs
  • Distracted driving
  • Texting and driving
  • Excessive speeding
  • Failure to follow traffic regulations and laws
  • Tailgating
  • Hit and run accidents
If you were in an Uber, Lyft, or other automobile accident due to another party’s carelessness, you may be entitled to compensation for the financial and emotional costs you sustained.

When you hire Christian Ferrer, Esq., you hire an advocate to personally represent you in the settlement and negotiations process to make sure you receive the compensation you deserve. His goal is to protect your rights, educate you throughout the injury claims process, and maximize the available compensation you are entitled to.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Due to Florida law, every driver in Florida is required to maintain Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance that covers $10,000. Since Florida follows a “no fault” rule when it comes to car insurance policy, PIP provides you with protection regardless of who is at fault.
However, you must meet specific requirements for PIP to kick in. For full benefits, you need to have an “emergency medical condition” and seek treatment within 14 days of your car accident.

Regardless of your situation, PIP does not pay over $10,000 and does not cover all expenses — this policy covers 80% of your medical costs and 60% of your lost wages.

This policy does not pay for your car repairs or any further damages you may need.

As you already know, a couple of medical bills can easily go over the set $10,000 amount. When you maintain serious injuries, PIP will simply not be enough. You may need to pursue claims with the other party’s insurance company.

Filing a PIP claim and pursuing further compensation can be complicated. Between doctor’s visits and family responsibilities, you might not even have the time to file paperwork or undergo a legal proceeding.

With the help of a skilled car accident attorney, you can focus on what really matters — your recovery and your family’s well-being.
